For the second year in a row, MPC has been awarded Best Advertisement Award for Ikea, T-Shirts at the 2015 SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival. Directed by Blink’s Dougal Wilson and conceived by Mother, the multiple award-winning project depicts the unexpected journey of hundreds of T-shirts searching for their home and uses a combination of puppetry and CG to tell the tale. This unique concept required specialized techniques and bespoke R&D from the VFX team to animate the inanimate objects.
Now in its 42nd year the annual SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Center showcases work from the world's most innovative and accomplished digital film and video creators. For 2015, an expert jury of professionals from the visual effects, animation, R&D, games, advertising, and education industries evaluated almost 500 submissions to select a winner.
This win follows recent accolades for the film including a Bronze Lion for VFX at Cannes, a D&AD Wood pencil in Special Effects and a Silver at the 2015 Creative Circle awards for Best FX/CGI.
The award was collected by MPC LA's Jeff Werner. A number of global MPC projects were also selected as finalists for the festival including John Lewis 'Monty's Christmas', first direct 'Little Frill,' Ikea 'Beds,’ Mercedes, ‘Fable,’ Nissan, ‘Winter Allies,’ Playstation, ‘Infamous: Second Son,’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Discover Your Power’ and Xbox, ‘Forza: Leave Your Limits’.
Congratulations to all involved!
