MPC Presents Digital Darwinism at Cannes Lions: From the Makers of Monty the Penguin

At Cannes Lions as Part of the Creativity in Focus Forum, Sunday 19th at 10.45am

Going to Cannes this year?

Come and see our VFX gurus Creative Director 3D, Diarmid Harrison-Murray and Head of 3D, Carsten Keller take the stage at this year's festival to present 'Digital Darwinism', part of the Creativity in Focus Forum.

What's it all about you say?

Demystifying the creative process behind CG character development we will reveal some of our biggest secrets. Using case studies from high-profile campaigns including last year’s Film Craft Grand Prix winner John Lewis’ 'Monty The Penguin’ we will provide insight into the creative and technical methodology involved in making photo-real creatures.

In addition to developmental phases such as anatomical research, animation and lighting, we'll also explore techniques developed to ensure the animal or character feels alive and real, whilst displaying personality and emotion within it’s story.  At the same time exploring deeper themes such as maintaining creative agility against a technical backdrop.

The session will focus on how technique, creative problem solving and technology constantly feed back into the CG gene pool, ensuring the next character or creation inherits and evolves to become more believable than the last.
